ACTOR NEIL PATRICK Harris has been revealed as the host of the 2015 Academy Awards. In typical NPH fashion, he announced the gig in a video posted to his Twitter last night.

In it, Harris shows us an almost completely ticked-off ‘bucket list’ containing many impressive feats, the last of which is “Host the Oscars”. Oooh.

In a statement on the Academy’s website, Harris said the opportunity is an “honour and a thrill”:

To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.

Harris performed in the opening musical number at the Oscars ceremony in 2010, but it’ll be his first crack at the presenting whip.

He’s a bit of a hosting veteran, though, having previously helmed both the Tony and Emmy Awards. He’s also won one of each – a Tony for his role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway and and an Emmy for his guest appearance on Glee.

Now all he needs is to present the Grammys to have an EGOT in hosting. We’re rooting for you, NPH.
